Go Fast Camper Accessories, Upgrades, and Mods

We’re big fans of Go Fast Campers; they’re an awesome way to make camping fast and easy while keeping your truck a truck, and they’re relatively budget friendly (when you consider the cost of a decent camper shell and roof top tent).

Having owned and traveled as a family in not one, but two Go Fast Campers over the last several years, we’ve found a ton of go fast camper accessories, upgrades, and mods that make these awesome truck campers even more fun to travel and camp in.

Best 25 Go Fast Camper Accessories, Upgrades, and Mods

Below you’ll find 25 of the best GFC accessories and upgrades we’ve used to make our Go Fast Camper even easier to travel, camp, and adventure from.

Extra GFC Hardware

Go Fast Campers use a proprietary t-track system that requires the use of special T-Nuts to fasten things to the camper’s exterior. So picking up several spares and a variety of sizes (either 10-32 or 1/4-20 thread) is a good idea.

Currently there are two ways to get them: from GFC directly or from Gzila Designs (an aftermarket manufacturer). We recommend stocking up at GFC when you get your camper installed to save on shipping.

Edge Trim

This Edge Trim* is a super easy accessory to add to your Go Fast Camper’s side panel doors and transform-a-floor panel to protect your hands, knees, head, awning, and gear from the harsher aluminum edges. You simply push it on, trim it to fit, and it locks in place.

Rear Grab Handle

Adding an aluminum Grab Handle* to the back of your GFC makes it way easier to climb up to store the tent, access roof top storage, and secure stuff on load bars on your Go Fast Camper. You will need a couple track nuts, and some shorter half-inch ¼-20 flange head bolts and washers from your local hardware store.

Shovel And Axe Mounts

These QuickFist Rubber Clamps* are a super easy way to add storage for an off road shovel and/or axe to the outside t-track on your Go Fast Camper. You’ll need track nuts as well as some stainless bolts & washers to secure them to the T-track.

Tent Zipper Pull Upgrade

Upgrading the zipper pulls on the GFC is an easy way to keep the zippers from clanking around in the wind as much, or from getting pinched precariously against the fabric of the tent, mattress, or your bedding.

We recommend using these black nylon pulls* (12 needed) for the exterior facing zippers and these glow-in-the-dark nylon pulls* (16 needed) for the interior zippers - which will improve visibility at night if nature calls. A diagonal cutting pliers works well to remove the stock zipper pulls, and a 90-degree pick helps push the new nylon zipper pulls through the zipper - it’s a bit tedious, but well worth it!

Eye Bolt Upgrade

Replacing the factory allen bolts in the upper extrusion with 1/4-20 one inch eye bolts* is an easy way to add hanging accessories to your Go Fast Camper. We use ours for hanging a paracord clothesline (pictured above) that we use to dry swim suits and towels while driving, and to hang our front storage organizer in the nose of the camper (more on this below).

Bubble Levels

Having an easy way to level your Go Fast Camper is super handy, and adding some small Bubble Levels* (10mm x 10mm) with 3m adhesive tape* to the exterior t-track is an easy way to do this.

Alternatively, you can use the Clip (PN# 2148A77) and Tube Level (PN# 2148A69) combo we used from McMaster-Carr (courtesy of a tip we got from @shittco) - though you’ll want to hit the white plastic clip with some flat black paint prior to install.

Go Fast Camper Storage Organization Accessories

There are a few ways to add some additional hanging storage to your GFC, but these are the best ones we’ve found:

  • Mud River Truck Seat Organizer* (Eye-Bolt Upgrade required) - we found that this relatively budget-friendly truck seat organizer (with the lower long velcro storage bag removed) fits perfectly in the nose of the GFC and it includes a TON of large and small pockets to keep things conveniently organized and stashed away. Plus it’s easy to mount by threading the included fiberglass tension pole through the three eye-bolts (mentioned above) in the upper interior extrusion.

  • VRNCLR is a one-man soft-goods shop that makes SUPER high-quality Go Fast Camper organization products right here in the USA.

    • Top Shelf - this adds a convenient way to store and organize all the pocketable stuff up in the tent before bed

    • Frame Packs - these packs take advantage of the negative triangular space between the Go Fast Camper’s space frame to add easily accessible storage to the GFC

    • Bedding Catch - if you want a slick way to stash your bedding, or winter coat that’s out-of-the-way this is an awesome solution

Rechargeable String Lights

Adding a set of string lights to your GFC (and/or attached awning) is a great way to make your camping trip a bit more romantic - or to light up the path to the latrine 😅. This set of Luci Rechargeable LED String Lights* that we use is self-contained, easy to pack, and includes both built-in solar and USB-C charging with three levels of adjustable brightness to dial in the ambiance.

Interior Lighting

There are several ways to add interior lights to your Go Fast Camper, but our favorite is using the JE Design MagSpot Kit in combination with Nite Ize Radiant Flashlights* (rechargeable via usb-c) or Black Diamond Remoji Lanterns* (rechargeable via micro usb). This is a super versatile way to easily light up the camper and, because they’re magnetically attached, you can move them around camp as needed too!

Ventilation Upgrades

Shittco Awning Block Kit

The GFC comes with plenty of ventilation windows, but the Shittco Awning Block Kit allows you to suspend the Go Fast Campers’s tent doors out away from the camper’s interior mesh door which greatly improves ventilation in the tent space. Plus it creates a makeshift rainfly for mild rains.

DIY 12v Suction Mount Fan

While it’s possible to install a traditional vent fan in your GFC, it requires the cutting and permanent modification of the camper’s honeycomb composite roof - we personally we’re really willing to do this on our Go Fast Camper.

A great alternative we stumbled upon is this DIY 12 volt suction mounted fan. Below are all the components needed to assemble this 12v setup for your GFC, the assembly is outlined in the images above and it’s very straight-forward.

Components Needed:

  • Caframo Sirocco II 12v Fan* - high-quality Canadian-made 12v fan that uses very minimal power

  • SeaSucker Vacuum Suction Cup* - extremely powerful marine-grade suction cup mount

  • 12v Male Plug (with 10ft wire)* - replaces the (hard-wire style) wire harness included with the Caframo Sirocco II and has enough length to allow for mounting the fan in a variety of spots throughout the GFC.

  • 3/4in. ¼-20 Truss Head Bolt* - all you need is one 1/4-20 bolt with a wider pan or truss head to connect the fan’s mounting plate to the SeaSucker’s mounting bracket (as shown in the images above)

Big thanks to @Stick & @Chuck.D on the GFC Forum for turning us onto this awesome Go Fast Camper Accessory. It’s made a HUGE improvement to our family’s comfort level for summer camping in the heat.

Bedding for Your Go Fast Camper

There are a ton of sleeping bags, quilts, and pillows that work great for truck camping, but we’ve found these are particularly great for Go Fast Campers because they fit in the upper tent when stored - which makes the job of setting up and breaking camp super fast!

Down Quilt

Therm-a-rest Vela 20 Degree* hydrophobic down quilt (or the Aeronaut Hoverquilt) are great for keeping you toasty when cold weather camping but are compact enough to be able to be stored in the tent when closed. We pair ours with Big Agnes Sleeping Bag Liners which are great for warmer temps.

Compressable Pillows

Therm-a-rest Compressible Pillow* (or the Hest Camping Pillow*) are compact camping pillows that compress just enough to store in the tent when closed. (Ours are pictured above in some small pillow cases we picked up at Wally World.)

Go Fast Camper Mattress Upgrade

For many, the 2” dual-layer foam mattress that comes with the Go Fast Camper is perfectly fine. But if you’re looking for a truly luxurious camping mattress for your GFC, the 3.9” thick Hest Foamy* is an awesome, albeit pricey, upgrade.

Two of the 78” x 25” models fit perfectly in the tent portion of the GFC and (with the original GFC mattress pads removed) the tent can still be easily closed - though it does take a little more care to guide the tent fabric in over the mattresses. They can also be easily rolled up and stored if you want to remove the transform-a-floor to hang in the camper in inclement weather.

Caveat Emptor: with the Hest mattress upgrade, bedding will no longer store in the tent when closed. However, we were able to fit our bedding in the now empty space in the zippered cover beneath the small transform-a-floor panels as shown below.

This mattress upgrade for the GFC was totally worth the trade-offs, and it’s truly been a game-changer for us - me a side-sleeper, and Lindsey having back issues.

Weatherproofing Accessories

Tailgate Seal Kit

While not specific to the GFC, this ESI Tailgate Seal Kit* helps to keep dust from entering the bed of your truck and camper through the gaps in the tailgate area. We also used some of the leftover pieces to seal and help direct moisture away from the upper rear bed corners between the GFC’s rear panel door and spaceframe (see picture below).

JE Design’s DripRail

Josh at JE Designs came up with this awesome Go Fast Camper DripRail accessory that redirects the Go Fast Camper’s front gutter drainage over the cab of your truck to keep you and your seats from getting soaked when opening and closing the truck’s doors in the rain.

He also makes a ton of other handy Go Fast Camper accessories - like the StepUp that adds a step to the clamp of the GFC to make climbing up into the tent from the bed of the truck easier and the 10Rack modular load bar set that’s much more versatile than the standard round bars we’ve used.

Go Fast Camper Awning

Adding an awning to your GFC is a great way to extend your “living space” while truck camping in inclement weather or direct sunlight. There are tons of great Overland Awnings on the market that you could add to your GFC, and GFC makes a Universal Mounting Bracket to help make the install easier.

However, the Kinsmen Hardware 270 Awning is our personal favorite for the Go Fast Camper. It’s 100% made and sourced in the USA (just like your GFC), it’s incredibly robust, and it comes with specially designed mounting hardware that makes it seamlessly pair with the Go Fast Camper. Check out our detailed review of the Kinsmen 270 Awning and why we think it’s The Best 4x4 Awning for Your Off Road Adventures.

Must Have GFC Factory Accessories

While Go Fast Campers is extremely supportive of the aftermarket accessory manufacturers, they obviously offer their own factory accessories for the GFC and, similar to their campers, they’re top-of-the-line quality. Below are our favorite factory Go Fast Camper accessories to add to your camper.

  • Beef Rack Bars - while we passed on these at the time of install because we already had some old GFC Yakima roundbar adapters (no longer made), these super versatile load bars offer a variety of ways to secure cargo to the top of the Go Fast Camper including an integrated T-track. GFC also makes a solar panel tray for the Beef Rack too!

  • Ladder with Mantis Claws - the Mantis Claw ladder setup is incredibly ingenious, and makes a really secure attachment point for side access to the upper tent portion of your GFC (like when we creep up to the tent after the kiddos are asleep).
